Why I love the Pyrénées-Orientales
Fiona Beazley says it better than we can. If you fall in love with French Catalonia and decide to buy a house in the Pyrénées-Orientales Fiona can help you find the ideal property.
Waking up in the morning, I love the continental atmosphere that greets me and the fact that the sparkling southern sun almost always put in an appearance - 320 days a year to be precise! I love the majestic mountains and the sight of a snow-capped Mount Congou never ceases to take my breath away. I love the diversity of the area and the Catalan influence with its ancient yet vibrant culture, its fine wines and succulent food. The people here are warm and take time to say Bonjour! or Bon dia! Nothing is too much trouble. Plus, I can dip into Spain or Andorra whenever I fancy. I feel privileged to be here in this Land of Plenty.
Rather than just copying all of Fiona's terrific information page about French Catalonia we'll link to it. Definitely worth reading to learn a bit about the history and geography of the area.
The Accent Catalan site is in French but still worth a look.
There's a good article in the Michelin online magazine about France's Catalan Coast
Good tourism information about Languedoc Roussillon on the Sunfrance site.
